Kitty Desk Companion

So many accessories!

This little cat was a special project for my sister. I needed something to get me out of my creative slump, and she needed something for her desk at work!

Kyo, my sister’s companion.

So I set out on a journey to make a cute little effigy of her little cat that could keep her company at work. Kyo is a muted, or “pastel” tortoiseshell kitty, and I wanted to do her coloring justice.

Nailed it!

I blended light gray with a pretty beige/gold color to mimic Kyo’s coloring. And of course, added the green to her eyes.

Then it was accessory time! I bought some tiny 5mm magnets to use to help the hats stay in place. And Bobby pins to secure her wings!

I wrote these patterns down as I was making them. So after some product development and testing, I should have a digital pattern ready to sell to make this for yourself!

Here be BABY dragons :)

Such a sweet face!

I found some really plush, soft and luxurious purple velvet yarn on clearance at Hobby Lobby – or as I call it, HibbityBibbity, and have been trying to figure out what to make with it. I also had some silver velvet yarn that I snagged from the thrift store. What to make… what to make…?

Que Pinterest! I was scrolling along one night and found this blog with a free pattern for a cute little baby dragon and thought “Aha! There’s my purple velvet plushie right there!”

Just wingin’ it

Granted, the blog post looks like it was translated from a different language and there was some information lost in translation, so I had to wing it – haha pun intended – and do what I thought would look best for the yarn size I had and the size I was going for on my plushie.

He just wants a hug, really.

Eventually I will get around to writing up my own version of this pattern because his face really is too cute and I think others will enjoy making one for themselves 🙂

It turns out that one made with standard acrylic yarn is just as cute!

Still adorable 🙂

I’ll definitely continue making these since I just love their faces 🥹

So cute!

Check out my Etsy to see the acrylic yarn version available for adoption!

Here Be Dragons!

Here he is! I was scrolling through Pinterest one day and found this really cool pattern for a celestrial dragon by hookedbykati.com and was like.. hmmm… who do I know that needs their own personal dragon? Ah yes! My cousin who enjoys Dungeons and Dragons gaming with her friends – that’s who! So I set out on a mission to make him.

Her request was for black with hot pink trimmings. I knew better. I am in love with Red Heart’s “Polo Stripe” yarn. It reminds me of magic and mermaid tails. The indigo and violet gradient with electric magenta, cobalt blue, and sea foam are a fabulous combination for creating magical creatures. Combined with the black body and the Red Heart “Minty” green horns you’ve got a winning combination.

I added wings – because why not? They were not originally included with the Celestrial Dragon pattern, BUT they were included with the Vincent the Dragon pattern so I snagged that information and added wings. They are lightweight and stable with the added security of a frame made of pipe cleaners twisted together and inserted into the black edging. With his wrap-around style, he can rest on your arm or your shoulder.

I think he’s just awesome! Do you want your own dragon? Message me at my Etsy shop and we can talk deets!
