Big Love Nessie

I’ve had my eye on this Nessie crochet pattern by Moontyasha for so long, and I finally treated myself to it! I had this really cool textured yarn that I wanted to use for it, and was afraid I wouldn’t have enough – but it turned out that I had plenty, as well as some left over to make a baby Nessie, too!

With Valentine’s right around the corner and with deep maroon yarn, I thought a heart themed Nessie would be perfect. This design made good use of the many different textures and colors of pink yarn that I had on hand.

The use of these unique and discontinued yarns, of course, means that each of these Nessies – big and small, are completely one of a kind. My next Nessie – and yes, there will be more, because they are so fun to make, will be completely different.

30+ hours of crochet, construction, and addition of details means that these are rare finds, as most fiber artists are loathe to part with their creations. I, however, want to share the love. If you want one of these lovely, cuddly, comfort creatures, check in my shop to see what is available!

A Little Boost of Serotonin

Long time no see, friends. I know I’ve been off the radar for a while. I’ve just been in a bit of a Crochet slump since I have so many ready-made pieces and nowhere to store any new ones until they sell.

A little something to boost my crochet energy

I decided to make a little something for a former student who recently shared the happy news that she is expecting a baby in the fall.

What’s better and a blankie?

Making this little elephant and this snuggly tiny blanket helped me over the crochet blues. I would love to get started making more things.

Perhaps I can squeeze more makes in somewhere.

Hey, maybe you can help! Hop on over to my shop to see if there is something you’d like to purchase 🙂

Both the elephant and blanket were free patterns that I found! Click the links to make them for yourself, if you’d like!

“Owl”-ways Looking Forward

For all those who supported my small crochet business dream in 2022, I am grateful to you. I hope to continue to grow this little seedling of a business in 2023.

I’ve completed my first project for 2023, and I’m glad to be able to share it with you!

Small and soft, this little owl reminds me to be studious and wise in the new year.

His pattern is found at Carmen Crochet and the yarn I used was a very fine velvet yarn that I found in a grab-bag of boutique yarns from a small craft store in downtown Nampa, Idaho.

That being said, any creations made by me with this particular yarn will be absolutely one of a kind!

Here be BABY dragons :)

Such a sweet face!

I found some really plush, soft and luxurious purple velvet yarn on clearance at Hobby Lobby – or as I call it, HibbityBibbity, and have been trying to figure out what to make with it. I also had some silver velvet yarn that I snagged from the thrift store. What to make… what to make…?

Que Pinterest! I was scrolling along one night and found this blog with a free pattern for a cute little baby dragon and thought “Aha! There’s my purple velvet plushie right there!”

Just wingin’ it

Granted, the blog post looks like it was translated from a different language and there was some information lost in translation, so I had to wing it – haha pun intended – and do what I thought would look best for the yarn size I had and the size I was going for on my plushie.

He just wants a hug, really.

Eventually I will get around to writing up my own version of this pattern because his face really is too cute and I think others will enjoy making one for themselves 🙂

It turns out that one made with standard acrylic yarn is just as cute!

Still adorable 🙂

I’ll definitely continue making these since I just love their faces 🥹

So cute!

Check out my Etsy to see the acrylic yarn version available for adoption!
