Here he is! I was scrolling through Pinterest one day and found this really cool pattern for a celestrial dragon by hookedbykati.com and was like.. hmmm… who do I know that needs their own personal dragon? Ah yes! My cousin who enjoys Dungeons and Dragons gaming with her friends – that’s who! So I set out on a mission to make him.
Her request was for black with hot pink trimmings. I knew better. I am in love with Red Heart’s “Polo Stripe” yarn. It reminds me of magic and mermaid tails. The indigo and violet gradient with electric magenta, cobalt blue, and sea foam are a fabulous combination for creating magical creatures. Combined with the black body and the Red Heart “Minty” green horns you’ve got a winning combination.
I added wings – because why not? They were not originally included with the Celestrial Dragon pattern, BUT they were included with the Vincent the Dragon pattern so I snagged that information and added wings. They are lightweight and stable with the added security of a frame made of pipe cleaners twisted together and inserted into the black edging. With his wrap-around style, he can rest on your arm or your shoulder.
I think he’s just awesome! Do you want your own dragon? Message me at my Etsy shop and we can talk deets!
I needed to make a unique gift for someone with a unique name that sounds a whole lot like “catfish”. This was the purrfect solution! A purrmaid. Ingenious! I already had this project pinned on my Pinterest “Crochet” board, because I wanted to make one eventually.
Isn’t she the cutest? Just like a kitten batting at her tail 😊
Hooked by Robin created this pattern and she offers both the free pattern AND links to super helpful video tutorials, as well. Robin walks you through this project from head to tail and everything in-between. I feel like this is a little more of an intermediate/advanced amigurumi project as it has some shaping techniques involved, but with the patterns and tutorials available, it is easy to master!
I am especially fond of the little paws!
I am so proud of this little creation and so glad that the recipient loved her as well. This little purrmaid was so much fun to make!
So this project was inspired by and produced for my next great nephew who will be joining us soon. His older brother received an arctic fox lovey from me when he was born, and his mom is continuing with a forest theme for her second boy.
I did not know just how well this new fox lovey would match her new nursery theme – but it turns out that it matches perfectly with the bedding she has chosen.
I present to you: Chubby Cheeks Lovey Fox:
I think he just turned out so cute! He reminds me a little of the gopher from the movie Caddyshack, to be honest 🤣 but that’s okay!
So for the little blanket, I just did a granny hexagon and went round and round until I started running out of yarn. Then I finished off with single crochet all around the border of the blanket.
The free pattern for the fox is provided by YarnSociety and can be found here.
